Syrian Orphan Support in Gaziantep, Turkey

Summary

Support orphans and their mothers/caregivers to maintain a dignified quality of living, including living expenses (rent, utilities, food, clothes), education support (education kits, tablets, Turkish language courses), and livelihoods training.

Problem

Turkey is home to the largest refugee population in the world. The number of Syrians under temporary protection reached just over 3.3 million, almost half of whom are children. The situation for the orphan children, widows and young mothers is especially challenging as they fled from Syria to Turkey with nothing and often have lost their fathers to the war. They have lost their communities, don’t speak the local language, and have limited means to support themselves. Orphans and their mothers need extra support to help them acclimate to Turkish society and improve their situation.
